Okay, so, Eridan Ampora. He’s a fucking douchebag. But he’s that way for a very good reason. I make no apologies for the things Eridan does as a result of who he grew to become, but I think it’s also unfair to assess him without the full… gravity… of everything.

First of all, to understand Eridan, you have to understand what motivates him, what it is that’s under his skin that makes him tick, the reason he is the way he is, and that is that at the essence of who he is, there are some very conflicting notions:

No one loves Eridan Ampora more than Eridan Ampora.

BUT

No one hates Eridan Ampora more than Eridan Ampora.

AND

Eridan’s main motivator is love. All he wants is for someone to truly love him.

BUT

He has absolutely no idea how love works, or should work, or how to make it work.
